It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas… my Holiday Home Decor

The mantel is dressed, the tree is up and the last thing I did today was ofinally find the wreath and get that beauty hung on the front door. It’s official… our new home is decorated for it’s first Christmas! Getting my holiday home decor completed this year had some new challenges with a new home. Not everything that’s a usual favorite made it’s way into the look this year. My miniature houses in their sugary pastel colors just didn’t quite match this time around and as the kids get a little older, some of the more “adorable” decorations are just too babyish according to them. One good thing: we now have a single front door instead of double doors, so I got to pull out my favorite over-sized jingle bell wreath that’s been away in storage the past several years, and she’s just as beautiful as I remembered. So come inside and I’ll give you the holiday tour one snapshot at a time… holiday home decor - front door Here’s that wreath close-up. Each bell is bigger than the palm of my hand and made of metal, so this is a heavy piece! You should have seen me trying to hang this by myself… holiday home decor - jingle bell wreath   I decorated the entryway with small artificial trees in gift boxes and a few decorative pieces on the table. With such a tight curving staircase, I couldn’t “swag” garland this year, so the stairway is adorned with FRESH boxwood garland, red sleigh bells and simple satin bows. holiday home decor - stairway entry I’ve been practicing my bow-making skills as you can see… holiday home decor - bows The mantel got more of the fresh boxwood garland and a few of my more neutral houses along with the mechanical carousel and ski slope the kids still love. holiday home decor - fireplace mantel I found this old sled and some ice skates in a local antique shop. Added some vintage sleigh bells and ribbon and it’s now a focal point by the fireplace. holiday home decor - sled and skates The tree we kept simple this year. The kids chose gold and red as the main colors with a mix of vintage inspired ornaments. My son got to put the vintage crown on top (and not without a fight with his sister first.) I found my daughter’s old rocking chair in the attic and it got a little holiday dressing as well. holiday home decor - Christmas tree Some of my favorite ornamentsholiday home decor - dresden ornament holiday home decor - vintage ornaments And over the tree I gave the landing a little JOY this year… holiday home decor - vintage joy For the breakfast area, I made a wreath from hymnal printables and vintage inspired papers. Stay tuned for the DIY on this one. holiday home decor - paper wreath The family Nutcracker collection is featured on the coffee table in the center of the living room… holiday home decor - nutcrackers …and of course there’s other pretty holiday home decor scattered here and there. holiday home decor holiday home decor - joy lettersThanks for stopping in for the holiday tour! I hope your Christmas season is filled with JOY this year. Happy Holidays~
